I tried the blue sound pulse 2 at my local dealership which also carries Sonos and heos. In a what hifi review they mention slight coarseness at higher volumes. To my ears the speaker simply distorted with the music I was using to test it out, it kinda fell apart.
Then I tried two play 5's in stereo and with the same music max volume and there was no problem. But man it was loud. ?

The specific track I use is Achilles, agony and ecstasy in eight parts by Manowar.

It is really bass heavy on the kick drums and goes deep.

I have at home a Bose soundtouch 130 which simply falls apart if I go near 70% on the volume with that particular song.

This says a lot about Sonos quality when pushing things to the limit.

I don't necessarily use this level of volume but I like my equipment to be able to do what it says on the spec sheet.

Kudos Sonos.
